We continue to monitor changes in television viewing during quarantine. We currently have data for July, which continue to amaze us all.
Unlike last summer, there is now a higher level of general television viewing. July was no exception - TV viewing this month has increased by 0.35 percentage points. to 6.44. Moreover, the main driver of growth was the average coverage per day, which has increased by 1.64 percentage points to 33.7, while the average viewing time has increased by only 1 minute 40 seconds.
By the end of July, there were more than 333.8 thousand active households in the panel.
The largest increase was shown by the group of sports channels, and the largest losses for the groups of general viewing channels and children’s channels.
Channel groups by genre (type)
In July, the group of general viewing channels continued the June trend of losing the share of viewing (a decrease of 1.52 percentage points to 55.61%). The share of viewing the group of entertainment channels in second place has remained virtually unchanged (an increase of 0.02 percentage points to 9.19%). A group of children's channels, which share of viewing was 7.78%, which is 0.02 percentage points higher than in June, ranked third. For the second month in a row, the share of movie channels is growing (an increase of 0.37 percentage points to 7.48% in July), which allowed this group to stay in fourth place. Fifth place is occupied by a group of news channels, which viewing share has decreased by only 0.02 percentage points up to 5.77%. In July, the group of sports channels continued to increase the share of viewing (an increase of 1.06 percentage points compared to the previous month), due to which it rose to sixth place with a share of viewings of 5.21%. The group of cognitive channels (the share of viewing decreased by 0.02 percentage points), ranks seventh with a rate of 4.53%. In eighth place is a group of channels demonstrating TV series with a total share of viewing of 1.88% (an increase of 0.07 percentage points). The group of music channels (the share in July stayed without changes at 1.74%) holds the ninth place.
General viewing channels
In July, 1 + 1 retained the prior, while “Ukraina” channel took second place. 1 + 1, the share of viewing was 11.07% in July (decrease by 0.53 percentage points), and “Ukraina” channel - 10.30% (decrease by 0.09 percentage points). 1+1 has generated 524.2 thousand contacts, and “Ukraina” channel mounted this figure was 481.6 thousand. In third place was ICTV channel with a share of 8.35% (an increase of 0.12 percentage points and 486.6 thousand contacts). STB channel is in fourth place, losing as much as 0.39 percentage points in July. (share of viewing 6.59%, number of contacts with channel - 507.9 thousand). Novy Channel requested 0.71 percentage points in share of viewing and ranks fifth (the share is 6.56%, generated 465.9 thousand contacts), and Inter channel remained in sixth place with a rate of 5.34% (the share of viewing decreased by 0.36 percentage points, 409.6 thousand contacts were generated).
In total, the group of general viewing channels has gained 4.23 million contacts with IPTV/OTT households in July.
On weekdays in July, 1 + 1 has continued to lead, both in prime and offprime. “Ukraina” is consistently in second place. In third place is ICTV channel.

Entertainment channels
TET channel leads the group, slightly increasing the share of viewing (growth by 0.15 percentage points to 3.32%) and gaining 351.9 thousand contacts with IPTV/OTT households throughout Ukraine in July. The average TET viewing time was 50.5 minutes.
NLO-TV channel is in second place with a viewing rate of 2.04% (an increase of 0.12 percentage points). The share of Mega channel in third place decreased by 0.08 percentage points up to 0.57%. NLO-TV had 199.4 thousand contacts with viewers, in Mega channel - 188.5 thousand. In fourth place was Sony Turbo channel with a rate of 0.55% (an increase of 0.06 percentage points), and Kvartal TV ranked fifth (the share of viewing lost only 0.02 percentage points and amounted to 0.53%)
In total, the group of entertainment channels has gained 1.76 million contacts with IPTV/OTT households during the month.
Children's channels
The viewing share of Plus Plus channel increased by 0.11 percentage points to the level of 2.85%, and the channel remains in first place, generating 172.1 thousand contacts in July. Nickelodeon (share of unchanged viewing at 1.29%) took second place, and Cartoon Network (a decrease of 0.02 percentage points to 1.024%) took third place, respectively. Nickelodeon has generated 54.6 thousand contacts, and Cartoon Network - 26 thousand. The fourth place is occupied by Pixel channel, which share of viewing rose for 0.03 percentage points up to 1.018%, and the number of contacts amounted to 141.9 thousand.
A total of 944.1 thousand contacts with households connected to the IPTV / OTT panel took place with children's channels in July.
Movie channels
In July, TV 1000 East continued to hold the leading position (viewing share was 1.81%, a decrease by 0.02 percentage points). A total of more than 290.6 thousand unique households connected to IPTV/OTT platforms watched TV 1000 East for a month throughout Ukraine with an average viewing rate of 38.5 minutes.
TV 1000 Action East channel with a rate of 1.18% (a decrease of 0.03 percentage points, the number of contacts - 198 thousand) was ranked second in the group. The third place in the group is held by ViP Comedy channel (share of viewing 0.89%, growth by 0.06 percentage points), which was reached by 179.2 thousand households. In fourth place is Enter Film (share of viewing 0.59%, a decrease of 0.02 percentage points). Sony Sci-Fi channel (viewing share improved by 0.02 percentage points to 0.32%) ranked fifth, with 115.1 thousand households in July.
In total, the group of movie channels has gained 1.9 million contacts with IPTV/OTT households in July.
News channels
The first place continues to be held by “Ukraina 24” channel, which share of viewing remained unchanged at 1.58% in July (the channel has received 233.7 thousand contacts and the average viewing time at 28.3 minutes). The share of viewing for PRYAMIY channel, which was located in second place, moved for 0.04 percentage points up to 0.90%. The channel has received 118.5 thousand unique contacts and an average viewing time of 52.3 minutes in July. 112 Channel increased the share of viewing to 0.86%, which is 0.02 percentage points higher than its result in June, and ranks third with 147.1 thousand contacts. The average viewing time was 39.2 minutes. Fourth place on News One channel - according to the results of July, its share of viewing was 0.69%, the number of contacts - 113.8 thousand. On the fifth place was Espresso TV (viewing share increased by 0.02 percentage points to the level of 0.37%), which generated 135.9 thousand contacts.
The total number of IPTV/OTT household contacts with a group of news channels throughout Ukraine amounted to 1.59 million in July.
Documentary channels
In the first place in the group for the second month in a row remains the channel Viasat History, whose viewing share increased by 0.03 percentage points. up to 0.62% (total number of contacts with the channel - 120.5 thousand), and NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC channel occupies the second position in the group with a rate of 0.56% (an increase of 0.02 percentage points). The number of contacts of the channel with IPTV | OTT households throughout Ukraine amounted to 76.3 thousand. In third place was History with a share of 0.48% (a decrease of 0.07 percentage points). The Viasat Explore CEE channel (0.40% revision rate, 0.09 percentage points decrease) is in fourth place, and the Viasat Nature CEE channel is in fifth place with 0.37% (unchanged).
The average viewing time of TV channels - leaders of the group was in July: Viasat History -44.8 minutes, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC -37.5 minutes, History -57.3 minutes.
In total, the group of documentary channels generated 1.63 million contacts with IPTV/OTT households in July.
Sports channels
In July, the share of channels broadcasting football continued to grow. Football 2 channel took first place with a share of viewing of 1.93% (an increase of 0.37 percentage points), and Football 1 channel (share of viewing 1.36% in July, an increase of 0.08 percentage points) is on second position. Football2 has received 165 thousand contacts, while Football1 was watched by 149.5 thousand households. In third place with a viewing share of 0.73% is Setanta Sports HD (the share of viewing has increased by 0.31 percentage points, the number of contacts with the channel - 66.4 thousand) The fourth place is occupied by the Football3 channel with a viewing share of 0.68 % and 97.2 thousand contacts. XSport channel ranks fifth with a viewing share of 0.19% (an increase in share of viewing by 0.02 percentage points).
In total, the group of sports channels has generated about 915.6 thousand contacts.
TV series channels
The group of TV series channels is headed by Sony Entertainment Television, which has received a share of 0.43% in July (an increase of 0.05 percentage points) and generated 119.8 thousand contacts with IPTV/OTT households. In second place is BIGUDI channel, which viewing share remained at 0.42%. The third place is occupied by FOX channel with a viewing share of 0.38%.
In total, the group of channels demonstrating TV series has gained 517.9 thousand contacts with IPTV/OTT households throughout Ukraine.
Music channels
M1 ranks first - its share of viewing increased to 0.55%, in second place - MUSIC BOX UA (the share of viewing decreased by 0.01 percentage points to 0.34%). EU MUSIC is in third place with a viewing share of 0.27%.
In total, the group received 822,000 contacts in July.
Regional channels
In July, Channel Z remained in first place among regional channels with a viewing rate of 0.134%. In second place was “Donbass” channel with a rate of 0.066%. Channel 34, which has received a viewing share of 0.039%, is in third place. Channel 4, which viewing share was 0.034%, is in fourth place. The next was KRT channel with a rate of 0.026% of the viewing.
In July, a group of regional channels has received more than 815,000 contacts with households.
