On July 1, the IV Big Data Awards ceremony took place where the results of 2020 and the first months of presentyear were summed up.
These are the TV channels that became leaders and received awards in various nominations:
In the nomination of general viewing channels: the award was given to 1 + 1, which had a serious challenger – Channel Ukraine;
In the nomination of movie channels, the winner was TV 1000, which won over TV 1000 Action;
In the nomination of entertainment channels, the statuette was awarded to TET, and NLO TV took the award for the 2nd place;
In the nomination of children’s channels, Plus Plus took the first place, while Nickelodeon was ‘stepping the toes’;
In the nomination of news channels, Ukraine 24 won the “golden palm”, and PRYAMYI took the second place;
In the nomination of documentary channels, another TV channel of the Viasat family, Viasat History, won while National Geographic lost a little to it;
In the nomination of sports channels, the best TV channels were Football 1 and Football 2, which took second and first places, respectively;
In the nomination of music channels, M1 has already taken the first place "traditionally", and Music Box is the second;
Among the TV channels demonstrating TV series BIGUDI is in the first place which is slightly inferior to FOX;
In the nomination of regional TV channels, in the first place is the TV channel from Zaporozhye - Channel Z, whilein the second - Channel 4, which in 2021 already goes into the nomination of national news TV channels.
In addition, Football 3 became the ‘debut of the year’, that is, the TV channel that began broadcasting in 2020 and achieved significant viewing rates. OBOZREVATEL won in the nomination “Step Forward” (the successful reformatting and rebranding) in 2020, which re-branded and "transformed" into "movie screening" TV channel.
Therefore, we congratulate the winners once again, and wish everyone to be on the winners’ list next year and receive their deserved awards.
Now, we already know the TV viewing rates for June 2021 and are happy to share with you the results of the month. So, as of the end of June, there were over 665 000 devices in our panel. The total TV viewing has lost 13% and fell from 6.18% to 5.39%, with shorting in total TV viewing due to a decrease in average viewing time by almost 45 minutes (4:37:21 in May compared to 3:53:30 in June) ...
It is clear that large TV channels have switched to summer programming and are accumulating strength for the upcoming fall season. However, the final games of the UEFA, European Football Championship, have kicked off in June, and broadcast the matches of the championship had a significant impact on the overall television viewingamong the TV channel groups. So, here is a spoiler – what has Channel Ukraine allowed to come out on the top in June, and which channel within the group of sports channels has received first place with an unprecedentedly higher rate.

General viewing channels
In June, Channel Ukraine won the leading position mainly due to the broadcasts of the European Football Championship (the viewing share 12.9%, an increase of 3.61 pp). 1 + 1 had 11.21% of viewing share in June (an increase of 1.10 pp), and ICTV - 7.96% (the lose of 1.04 pp). Channel Ukraine has generated 1,350 000 contacts, while for 1 + 1 this figure was 828 900. The third place was taken by ICTV with a viewing share of 7.96% (a decrease by 0.49 pp and 760 200 contacts were generated). STB has lost 3.62 p.p. in June. and is in fourth place with an indicator of 7.58% (742 600 contacts generated). Novy Channel ranks fifth, losing 1.34 p.p. in June. (the share of viewing is 5.42%, the number of contacts with the channel is 708 500), while Inter remains in sixth with 4.79% (the share of viewing decreased by 0.34 p.p., 628 100 contacts were generated).
Sports channels
Football 1 remains in first place within the group, increasing its viewing share by 6.55 p.p. up to 8.37% (the channel showed almost all matches of the European Football Championship and the football analytics). Football 2 ranks second with a viewing share of 1.75% (an increase of 0.19 p.p.). Football 1 received 464 900 contacts, and Football 2 was watched by 364 400 households. FIGHTBOX HD (the share of viewing is 1.20% in June, an increase of 1.00 p.p., the number of contacts with the channel – 798 700) takes the third position. The fourth place is held by Football 3with a viewing share of 0.95% and 329 700 contacts. Setanta Sports HD ranks fifth with a 0.28% viewing share and 342 400 contacts.
Movie channels
The leading position continues to be held by TV 1000 Action East (the share of viewing is 1.58%, remained unchanged). In total, more than 446 900 unique households connected to IPTV/OTT platforms watched TV 1000 Action East during a month throughout Ukraine with an average viewing time of 36.8 minutes. TV 1000 East with an indicator of 1.49% (a decrease of 0.10 p.p., the number of contacts – 358 500) took the second place in the group. The third place in the group is held by ViP Comedy (the share of viewing is 0.95%, a decrease of 0.06 pp), which was viewed by 264 900 households. The fourth place is taken by VIP Megahit HD (the viewing share is 0.81%, a decrease of 0.18 p.p., the number of contacts with the channel is 140 100). VIP Premiere HD (the share of viewing decreased by 0.05 p.p. to 0.55%) took the fifth place - the channel reached 130 300 households in June.
Entertainment channels
In June, the leader of the group, TET, has received a lower viewing share (a decrease by 0.34 p.p. to 2.32%), generating 509 300 contacts with IPTV/OTT households throughout Ukraine. The average TET viewing time was 43.7 minutes. NLO TV is in second place with a viewing share of 1.12% (a decrease of 0.09 p.p.). The share of Mega in third place sank by 0.03 p.p. down to 0.48%. NLO TV had 341 500 contacts with TV viewers, Mega – 251 100. OCE TV took the fourth place with an indicator of 0.43% (unchanged), and Indigo TV took the fifth place. (the share decreased by 0.04 pp in June and amounted to 0.31%)
Children's channels
The viewing share of Plus Plus channel has dropped by 0.31 percentage points in June to the level of 1.41%, and the channel remains in first place, generating 205 400 contacts. Nickelodeon (down 0.02 p.p. to 0.88%) came in second, while Cartoon Network (down 0.04 p.p. to 0.72%) came in third, respectively. Nickelodeon generated 95 200contacts, and Cartoon Network – 51 900. The fourth place is taken by Pixel, which viewing share lost 0.10 pp. and decreased to 0.53%, and the number of contacts was 223 600.
News channels
The first place among the news channels is held by Ukraine 24, which share of viewing lost 0.13 percentage points in June and fell to 1.87% (the channel received 505 400 contacts and the average viewing time of 31.2 minutes). The viewing share of NASH, which ranked second, decreased by 0.07 p.p. down to 0.89%. The channel received 177 400unique contacts in June and the average viewing time of 55 minutes. PRYAMYI showed a viewing share of 0.64% (down 0.06 p.p.), and ranks third with 201 000 contacts. The average viewing time was 40.9 minutes. The fourth place is taken by Channel 24 - the share of viewing has decreased by 0.07 p.p. down to 0.44%, the number of contacts thechannel had -50 500. In fifth place is Espresso TV (the share of viewing decreased by 0.09 pp to the level of 0.37%), which generated 216 300 contacts.
Documentary channels
The first place in the group continues to be held by Viasat History, which share of viewing has decreased by 0.06 p.p. up to 0.67% (the total number of contacts with the channel is 220 600), and NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC occupies the second position in the group with an indicator of 0.48% (a decrease of 0.05 percentage points). The number of contacts of the channel had with IPTV / OTT households throughout Ukraine amounted to 157 400. Viasat Explore CEE took the third place with a viewing share of 0.41% (a decrease of 0.04 percentage points). Viasat Nature CEEchannel (0.41% viewing share, down 0.04 p.p.) is in fourth place, while Nat Geo Wild is in fifth with 0.40% (unchanged).
TV series channels
The group of TV series channels continues to be led by BIGUDI channel in June, which reduced its share of viewingby 0.12 percentage points down to 0.63% and generated 121 300 contacts with IPTV/OTT households. The second place is taken by Paramount Comedy, which viewing share has decreased by 0.02 p.p. down to 0.30%. The third place is occupied by FOX channel with a viewing share of 0.25%.
Music channels
M1 ranks first - its share of viewing fell to 0.44%, followed by EU MUSIC (its share has decreased by 0.01 p.p. to 0.26%). MUSIC BOX UA is in third place with a viewing share of 0.26%.
Regional channels
In June, NASH continued to hold the first place among regional channels with a viewing share of 0.042%. Channel 4is in second place with an indicator of 0.037%. Channel Kiev received a viewing share of 0.033%, takes the third place, and ATR, which viewing share was 0.025%, is in fourth place. Next behind to them - UA:CRIMEA has an indicator within 0.023% of the viewing share.
