Dear colleagues!
As of the end of August, there were 405.7 thousand devices in the IPTV/OTT panel. As expected, there was a decrease in TV viewing, since this month traditionally falls on the peak of vacations. The total TV viewing hasdecreased by 18%, or 1.19 p.p. up to 5.25%, with both the average daily reach (by 6%) and the average viewing time (by 14%).
The largest growth was demonstrated by the TV series channels group and the group of news channels. Channel Ukraine was unable to keep the first place, which had won in July, has lost the leadership to the channel 1 + 1. And for the second month in a row, movie channels (TV1000 East and TV1000 Action East) hold a viewing share of almost 2% each. Read more in our latest August 2021 review.
General viewing channels
In August, 1 + 1 has regained its leading position (the share is 10.54%, an increase of 0.21 pp). Channel Ukraine, again moved to second place, the viewing share in August amounted to 10.38% (decrease by 2.15 percentage points). 1 + 1 has generated 702 500 contacts, and for Channel Ukraine this figure was 734.4 thousand.
Movie channels
The leading position continues to be held by TV1000 Action East channel (the viewing share is 1,971%, a decrease of 0.01 p.p.). In total, more than 311 600 unique households connected to IPTV/OTT platforms watched TV1000 Action East during the month throughout Ukraine with an average viewing time of 40.3 minutes.
TV 1000 East with an indicator of 1.966% (a decrease of 0.01 pp, the number of contacts - 381.1 thousand) is in second place in the group. The third place in the group is held by ViP Comedy channel (the share of viewing is 1.09%, a decrease of 0.07 percentage points), which was viewed by 225.1 thousand households. The fourth place is taken by VIP Megahit HD channel (the share of viewing is 0.96%, a decrease of 0.09 pp, the number of contacts with the channel is 135.3 thousand). VIP Premiere HD channel (the viewing share increased by 0.15 p.p. to 0.80%) took the fifth place - the channel has reached 134.3 thousand households in August.
Entertainment channels
In August, the leader of the group, TET channel, almost did not change the viewing share (an increase of only 0.01 p.p. to 2.51%), generating 434.5 thousand contacts with IPTV/OTT households throughout Ukraine. The average viewing time of TET was 41.3 minutes. NLO-TV channel is in second place with a viewing share of 1.00% (a decrease of 0.16 p.p.). The share of Indigo TVchannel in third place increased by 0.22 p.p. up to 0.54%. NLO-TV had 285.1 thousand contacts with viewers, while the Indigo TV channel had 204.8 thousand. The fourth place was taken by OCE-TV channel with an indicator of 0.53% (added 0.06 p.p.), and Mega channel was in fifth place (the share decreased by 0.07 p.p. in August and amounted to 0.43 %)
Children's channels
The viewing share of Plus Plus channel dropped by 0.19 p.p. in August. to the level of 1.49%, and the channel remains in first place generating 171.7 thousand contacts. Nickelodeon (also down 0.04 p.p. to 1.04%) came in second, while Nick Jr (up 0.5 p.p. to 0.68%) came in third, respectively. Nickelodeon channel has generated 89.5 thousand contacts, and Nick Jr channel generated 51.5 thousand. The fourth place is taken by Pixel channel, which viewing share has increased by 0.08 p.p. up to 0.54%, and the number of contacts was 181.9 thousand.
News channels
The first place among the news channels is held by the channel Ukraine 24, which viewing share in August has decreased by 0.06 percentage points. up to 2.02% (the channel received 335.1 thousand contacts and an average viewing time of 38.2 minutes). The viewing share the channel NASH, which ranked second, has increased by 0.10 p.p. up to 1.11%. The channel received 153.7 thousand unique contacts in August and an average viewing time of 56.1 minutes. PRYAMIY showed a viewing share of 0.74% (added 0.01 p.p.), and ranks third with 179.4 thousand contacts. The average viewing time was 40.8 minutes. The fourth place belongs to Channel 24 – the viewing share increased by 0.06 p.p. up to 0.53%, the number of contacts with the channel -44.1 thousand. In fifth place is Espresso TV (the share of views increased by 0.02 p.p. to the level of 0.45%), which generated 193.2 thousand contacts.
Sports channels
Football 1 remains in first place, although its share of viewing fell again by 0.41 p.p. up to 2.20%. Football 2 ranks second with a 1.33% viewing share (up 0.39 pp). Football 1 has received 182.1 thousand contacts, Football 2 was seen by 157.4 thousand households. Setanta Sports HD (the share of viewing in August was 0.58%, an increase of 0.19 p.p., the number of contacts with the channel - 371.9 thousand) ranks third. The fourth place is taken by FIGHTBOX HD with a viewing share of 0.24% and 176.3 thousand contacts. Setanta Sports Plus ranks fifth with a 0.23% viewing share and 240.6 thousand contacts.
Documentary channels
The first place in the group continues to be held by Viasat History, which viewing share fell by only 0.01 p.p. up to 0.78% (the total number of contacts with the channel - 191.3 thousand), and Viasat Explore CEE takes the second position in the group with an indicator of 0.50% (an increase of 0.02 p.p.). The number of contacts of the channel had with IPTV/OTT households throughout Ukraine amounted to 130.8 thousand. In third place is NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC with a viewing share of 0.50% (a decrease of 0.04 p.p.). NatGeo Wild (0.48% viewing share, up 0.05 p.p.) is in fourth place, while Viasat Nature CEE is in fifth with 0.33% (minus 0.13 p.p.).
TV series channels
The group of TV series channels in August continues to be headed by BIGUDI channel, which has reduced the share of viewing by 0.06 percentage points. up to 0.56% and generated 106.2 thousand contacts with IPTV/OTT households. In second place is Epic Drama, which viewing share has increased by 0.02 p.p. up to 0.37%. The third place is taken by Star Family channel with a viewing share of 0.36%.
Music channels
M1 ranks first - its viewing share has slightly decreased to 0.48%, followed by EU MUSIC (its share also decreased by 0.04 p.p. to 0.26%). MUSIC BOX UA is in third place with a viewing share of 0.26%.
Regional channels
In August, Channel Kyiv took the first place among regional channels with a viewing share indicator of 0.047%.NASH channel is in second place with an indicator of 0.045%. ATR channel, receiving a viewing share of 0.036%, is in third place, while Horizon TV, which viewing share was 0.027%, is in fourth place. Following them UA:CRIMEAhas an indicator within 0.026% of the viewing share.
